Brief Achievements
Described two genera of fruit flies, Dacimita David and Hancock and Gibbifronta David, Hancock and Han from India
Described 40 species of fruit flies new to science infesting various fruit trees/ vegetables/ medicinal plants/bamboo
Twenty three species and six genera of fruit flies were recorded for the first time from India
Barcodes were generated for 40 species of fruit flies (Diptera: Tephritidae)
Revised the status of subtribe Acidoxanthina to tribe Acidoxanthini based on morphological characters and mt-COI based phylogenetic analysis
Revised fruit flies of tribe Dacini from India based on phylogenetic analysis employing morphological characters.
Illustrated key to species of Zeugodacus from India and updated generic key of subfamily Dacinae were published
Prepared the digital distribution maps of 14 species of Bactrocera Macquart (Diptera: Tephritidae) in Kerala with special reference to Western Ghats, one of the unexplored biodiversity hotspots of India.
Updated keys for the identification of all subgenera of Bactrocera Macquart, species of Acidoxantha Hendel, Acroceratitis Hendel, Euphranta Loew, Philophylla Rondani, Dacus Fabricius, Ceratitella Malloch and Magnimyiolia Shiraki were published.
Illustrated keys to 126 species of fruit flies from peninsular India and Andaman & Nicobar Islands were prepared.
